Our Unique Story

Wood & Co was founded by Dickie Wood, a former actor with a passion for the stage during his West End debut 2014 in London’s production of Mamm Mia.
It was during his first-ever acting contract that it dawned on Dickie that pursuing a career in acting was going to be financially and mentally challenging, as contracts in theatre and television were often short and sporadic.

This realisation led Dickie to take control of his secondary income and set up a small painting company that would allow him the flexibility to audition for roles without the anxiety and pressure of securing a job.
Along the way – painting during the daytime and performing in West End contracts in the evening – he met other actors who also had skilled trades.

Dickie had the idea of collaborating with these actors expanding the business and working on renovating bathrooms, kitchens, and full-scale properties.
This proved to be a highly successful venture, and 10 years on, many actors still work for Wood & Co.

After an aggressive growth period, through many trials and tribulations, Dickie has grown the company into one of London’s most competitive and reliable main contracting partners.
